Doomsday Book
Connie Willis
Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail
Cheryl Strayed
Warm Bodies - Isaac Marion I saw the movie first. Decided to give the book a try (50 page test) and was pleasantly surprised.
The 5th Wave - Rick Yancey 3.5 stars

I felt like it lost a little steam from about 60% to 75% but then finished strong.

First part really freaked me out but I have a thing about the end of the world stuff.
Scarlet - Marissa Meyer 3.5 stars, nothing bad but didn't really grab my interest. Not into the "bad boy" thing that much although I did like the character of Carswell Thorne. Will probably read he next one (didn't read Cinder).
Lips Touch: Three Times - Jim Di Bartolo, Laini Taylor Loved it, will be pushing it to my friends and relatives.
Clockwork Princess - Cassandra Clare Yes, I read it.

I think Clare has spent all of her emotional currency with me because although I wanted to find out what happened, I was not involved with the characters at all.

Or maybe everything I had went to [b:Days of Blood & Starlight|12812550|Days of Blood & Starlight (Daughter of Smoke and Bone, #2)|Laini Taylor|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1337964452s/12812550.jpg|17961723] because that book DRAINED ME while I was reading it.

Between Shades of Gray - Ruta Sepetys Word of advice: Do not begin reading this at 10:30 at night. It will make you want to go into your kid's room and wake them at 2 am after you finish the book just to kiss them and know they are safe.

Heart wrenching.
White Cat - Holly Black Not my thing, first half held my interest then I just didn't care.
Rebel Heart - Moira Young I wanted to like this more but the angst got to me and I started skimming pages.

Might read the next one if there is a next one.
Days of Blood & Starlight - Laini Taylor I was very nervous this wouldn't live up to my expectations but even though it was so different from the first book, I wasn't disappointed.

This was heart wrenching to read some of the time but if I have to put the book down and walk away because I am so worried about what is going to happen (more than once!) then I figure the author is doing something right.

By the last 100 pages I was emotionally worn out and numb to everything - not necessarily a bad thing.

Daughter of Smoke & Bone - Laini Taylor First read 12/4/11
Second read 9/17/12
City of Lost Souls - Cassandra Clare Pop quiz hot shot...

Which is worse: reading the entire book knowing how bad it is or reading the entire book and knowing you will read the next one too?

Ms. Clare has all of the subtlety of a crash of rhinos. If she put one more hint/link to her Infernal Devices series in the writing, I was ready to drop kick the book across the room.

Hint: It's not clever, it's annoying.

That being said, I must admit I will read Clockwork Princess too.

I.am.so.sick.

(sigh)
Farm City: The Education of an Urban Farmer - Novella Carpenter I still have dreams for animal husbandry in the city but this book made me realize there is one animal I DON'T want... pigs.

I really enjoyed this one.
The King of Attolia - Megan Whalen Turner Liked it the best so far.
Bitterblue - Kristin Cashore, Ian Schoenherr I just couldn't get into it like I devoured Fire. I may try reading it again later because I think it was me and not the book.
The Piper's Son - Melina Marchetta I just really couldn't get into this and considering how much I have been gushing about Finnikin and Jellicoe to anyone who will listen, I just don't understand it.

It must be me... although Saving Francesca didn't grab me either.

My expectations might have been too high for this one.

Sorry Melina, I'm still waiting with baited breath for your next book.
Froi of the Exiles - Melina Marchetta I have been oscillating between 4 and 5 stars on this one and after a few days to think about it and then re-reading parts, I'm going back to 4 stars.

This is a very good book, I Liked it a lot. Notice the capital "L"? Now Finnikin of the Rock I LOVE dearly and felt the need to run out and buy and then press into the hands of all of my family and friends.

I am certainly recommending Froi and I read it straight through a weekend but my intense feelings are still with the first book (I think I am in the minority here after reading reviews.)

Marchetta is an amazing writer and I continue to marvel at the way she can make me laugh and cry so quickly. I must admit, I figured a few things out early but here is the beauty of Melina's writing...

I.Did.Not.Care.

My only complaint?

Having to wait for the third book.
